Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds', a film about
the bird world suddenly taking revenge on the human race in a
small sea side town in northern California, was released in
1963. By the end of the film, you had no idea if this was a
local thing or if the whole country was involved. It was a great
movie back then and still is today!
To help celebrate the film's 45th anniversary in 2008, Mattel,
Inc. released "The Birds" Barbie® doll,
based on the films' ill-fated heroine, Melanie Daniels, played
by Tippi Hedren. Wearing a green skirt-suit that she wore most
of the film, she looks very much like Melanie Daniels! Birds are
included as well! |

Every year Mattel comes out
with a new Halloween themed Barbie doll that can be found in
many mass market stores to drug stores. These are examples of
some from past years, like Halloween Princess Barbie" and
"Enchanted Halloween Barbie" but check your local stores for new
ones each Halloween season. These are considered collectables by
many people so you may also find them on internet stores that
hold auctions. |
THE MUNSTERS!!
 Barbie® doll and
Ken® doll as Lily and Herman Munster are perfect as the beloved, offbeat couple from the
famous 1960s TV show, "The Munsters." Barbie is elegantly ghoulish as Lily
Munster, complete with Lily's raven black hair and signature blond streak. She wears a
flowing light pink gown that sets off the eerie shade of her greenish skin. The dress is
an authentic reproduction, with wing-like cut-outs at the arms and a black tie at the
waist. A bat hanging from her necklace and black fingernails complete her look. Ken as the
frightful, but good-natured Herman towers above Lily. He has Herman's monster-like look,
with an exaggerated forehead and brow, flat-top head that appears as if it can be opened
and two bolts in his neck. He wears an authentic reproduction of Herman's brown suit,
charcoal sweater and oversized gray boots.
